Where does our cosmetic Argan Oil come from?
The entire process of collecting and extracting argan oil is carried out by the Tighanimine Filahia Cooperative of Berber women in Morocco, according to Fair Trade principles. Argan oil, from its collection to marketing, is its main source of income. The cooperative, which employs 68 women, produces argan oil extracted from trees located in the southwest of Morocco, close to Agadir. Before participating in the cooperative, many of the women were prohibited by their husbands from working, or were marginalized because they were widows or divorced. Today, the group allows them to earn money with which they improve their quality of life and that of their children. They proudly show the improvements they have made to their homes thanks to the cooperative's income. Women are also running literacy and family planning programs.
